Grantham v Melton Friendly Match

Grantham played a friendly 'home and away' match to end the current season. The match was ably organised by Trevor Palmer. Grantham lost the match 2 1/2 - 5 1/2 . Paul Cumbers lost and Kevin McCarthy agreed a draw. Ben Mason drew. Trevor lost to an old friend who perhaps should have been in the top four but wanted to see him. He was always heading for the win. Ivan David was very annoyed to only get a draw out of a 'won' endgame which he misplayed by having to move very quickly. Chris Cumbers lost and Rhona Allgood held up Grantham's honour by winning. The games were much closer than the score suggests. Melton have suggested a pre-season warm up match in Aug/Sept their squad travelling to Grantham and I am sure that we will be ready to avenge this defeat.
