In their latest home match against University 2 in the Nottinghamshire League, Grantham 2 maintained their good form to outclass their opponents 5:0. This good result should see the team secure in their position in League 2 for next season with 3 matches remaining.
Grantham 1's season of great success suffered a minor setback at University 1 where a late withdrawal of a Grantham player saw the team having to default a board. Nevertheless, against a very strong University 1 team, the only lost by 3:2. Paul Cumbers secured a good draw on Board 1 against the highly-rated P Pachta and Nick Payne had chances to draw which would have drawn the match.

Grantham 2 beat Nomads to move up the table
Grantham 2 enjoyed a 5-0 whitewash against Nomads in their latest home match at the Electric Club. The visitors defaulted their bottom board and Grantham strengthened their team with the inclusion of Claudio Mangione. Claudio fully justified his inclusion by winning fairly easily and quickly on board 1. Maurice Hill lost on time against Ivan David showing the inherent difficulties of using an analogue clock in these situations as it appeared that the clock had not exactly reached the top of the hour as his flag fell. In mitigation, the clock in use was new having been presented to the club for winning League 3 last season. Trevor Palmer had a smooth victory over his opponent with a strategically winning position from the opening. Ben Mason beat the higher rated Dave Griffiths to seal the clean sweep.
