Grantham retain Lincolnshire League Title

With Grantham needing a win to clinch the league title for a third straight year and Louth only needing a point, the pressure was all on Grantham for their home game encounter. The team got off to a great start with Ben Mason winning. After a wild opening Ben gained a piece advantage and was able to convert it to the win. Will Grummitt was two pieces up but lost one and with the advantage slipping away was able to play accurately to secure a draw with perpetual check. Ivan David also drew on board one in a tight game neither player made an error and a draw was a fair result. This then left Grenville Wollerton's game. Needing just a draw to secure the title, Gren gained a pawn advantage, this he then converted into a piece and from then on he forced the advantage into a win to give Grantham a 3-1 victory and the league title.
