Gingerbreads Revenge
After losing the friendly match against Melton at the end of last season, a rematch was arranged for last Wednesday as a curtain-raiser to the new season. As before, the match was played over 8 boards with 4 being played at Grantham and 4 at Melton. Grantham was out for revenge and duly got it with a 7.5 to 0.5 victory. All of the games were well played and in a very friendly spirit. The only half point dropped by Grantham was by top board Paul Cumbers. After our previous loss, the Grantham organiser, Trevor Palmer, presented Melton with some Grantham Gingerbread in recognition of their victory. We await our pork pie!
